The instructions below can be used to familiarize yourself with the installation of your new decals. Please click here for the tools required and general installation tips. The steps that follow are specific to the 2005 Mustang racing stripes. This is the most detailed kit that we sell and is identical in fit, form, and function as the racing stripes offered by Ford Motor Company. Patience and an eye for detail are critical to ensure a proper installation. If you do not feel comfortable accomplishing the install yourself...please contact a local body shop or auto dealer to assist with the installation. These stripes are cut per order and are not refundable. Please see our refund policy here. That being said...these decals are not that hard to install yourself. You will need to set aside several hours (approximately 4) to accomplish the complete kit. Enjoy your new decals!

Your new decals consist of 3 layers. The top layer is the transfer tape. The middle layer is the actual decal. The bottom layer is the backing paper. The backing paper exposes the adhesive so be sure you are ready to install your decal before you remove it.

You will need to locate the centerline of your vehicle and mark it with a grease pencil or 1/2 inch masking tape.

Wet the area you are about to apply the decal to liberally. Use one teaspoon of Dawn original dish soap and one quart of water. You can also purchase a professional decal application fluid from us by clicking here. This will provide a slippery surface to slide the decal into position.

Remove the backing paper trying to keep the paper as parallel to the decal as possible. As you can see we are installing the 3rd brake light portion of the stripe first. The top and bottom sections of the trunk will overlap this portion slightly as you will see later.

Maneuver the decal into place by gently sliding it until you are satisfied with its placement. Use a squegee, or credit card with masking tape wrapped around the edge, to smooth the decal into place. It is critical to allow enough time for the decal to dry before proceeding to the next step. Typically 30 minutes is sufficient to ensure the decal will remain adhered before removing the transfer tape. It is possible that you will need to wait for up to an hour if humidity is high or temperature is low.

Remove the transfer tape slowly. Keep the transfer tape as parallel to the decal as possible.

Smooth the bottom portion of the decal around the lip of the trunk.

The basics of the process are identical for every decal applied. Let's install the top of the trunk. Wet the area with your liquid solution.

Remove the backing paper from the decal.

Slide the decal in position being sure to align the edge with the previously applied decal. Maintain the same distance from the edge of your decal to the center marking you made earlier. The decal will overlap the brakelight portion by about 1/8 inch. The portion extending forward of the trunk will be tucked under the trunk lid.

Smooth out the decal with your squegee or credit card. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes before removing the transfer tape.

Remove the transfer tape. Try to keep the transfer tape as parallel to the decal as possible.

Wrap the remainder of the decal to the underside of the trunk.

Now lets tackle the bottom portion of the trunk. Wet the area liberally with your liquid solution.

Remove the backing paper from the decal. Try to keep the backing paper as parallel to the decal as possible.

Slide the decal in to position. The decal will overlap the 3rd brakelight portion by about 1/8 inch. Make sure you maintain the same distance from the edge of the decal to the centerline of the vehicle that you marked earlier.

Smooth the decal using your squegee or credit card. Make sure you let it sit at least 30 minutes to allow the decal to adhere to the vehicle surface.

Remove the transfer tape. Try to keep the transfer tape as parallel to the decal as possible.

Wrap the remainder of the decal to the underside of the trunk.

Next Step! Let's do the rear bumper. Liberally spray the area with your solution. Remove the backing paper from the decal.

Gently slide the decal into position. Make sure you align the edge with the stripe on the top of the bumper. The decal will overlap the decal on the top of the bumper by 1/8 inch. Maintain the same distance between the edge of the decal and the center marking on the vehicle that you made earlier.

Let the decal sit for at least 30 minutes to ensure the adhesive has had time to bond with the vehicle surface. Gently remove the transfer tape. Keep the transfer tape as parallel to the decal as possible.
